Many domestic extensions can be built without planning consent, however larger ones have a time limit for completion

Domestic Extensions

Many domestic extensions can be built without the need for a planning application, but the rules are quite complex.

The rules are quite generous towards single storey extensions but less so for two or more storeys. In addition some permitted development rights do not apply in sensitive areas such as Conservation Areas and National Parks.

The planning portal has a useful interactive guide to householder permitted development rights. Click on the link below to access it.

If you are unsure whether you need to apply for planning permission give the H&H Planning Team a call on 01228 406260 or email the team to confidentially discuss your options.
